Description
Leads the beam line project from both a technical and management perspective, working with the Research and Development team to ensure that the Company is at the forefront of ground breaking technological development.
Drives the delivery of the Beam Transfer Line project from initial concept through design and testing, to the end of life cycle, to meet the overall timetable.
Brings their overall technical knowledge of beam diagnostics, beam optics, vacuum systems, controls, and beam calibration to make technical choices and decisions.
Work with physics calculation colleagues for defining the functional, performance and non-functional requirements
Works with colleagues and contractors to ensure that all product and system requirements are considered from initial product and process conception through to the finished solution within the agreed budget and timescales.
Works with other project teams to support cross functional activities, and contributing to a continuous improvement agenda focused on technology, EHS, quality, cost, delivery and regulatory requirements.
Works with third party equipment and systems suppliers to ensure cost effective solutions are found through the tendering process, focusing on appropriateness, price, quality, lead time and regulatory requirements
Monitors resource scheduling across the project teams and works to address resource capacity constraints.
Supports the project execution by creating and maintaining project plans, scorecards and assigning project tasks.
Monitors and reports on project progress through the implementation and tracking of structured project management and gate review processes
Requirements
PhD or Degree, or equivalent qualification in engineering or physics
Essential
Experience gained in a technical environment, ideally working on electro-magnets, power converters and if possible accelerator systems (vacuum, beam diagnostics, controls)
Excellent people management, interpersonal and communication skills.
(Comprehensive) understanding of regulatory requirements.
Ability and willingness to work closely with the manufacturing and regulatory disciplines
Desirable
Previous project experience within commercial and R&D environments.
Familiarity with standard world-class manufacturing philosophies, methodologies, tools, techniques and application such as LEAN, Six-Sigma, APQP, PPAP, FMEA, DFM, Project Management, Problem Solving etc.
