Are you able to support the fine-tuning of our current and future low earth orbit satellite imagery, joining our team as an EUMETSAT is the European operational satellite agency for monitoring weather, climate and the environment. We observe the atmosphere, ocean and land surfaces from Space using a system of satellites, 365 days a year. We provide images and data to develop insights into weather situations, environmental hazards and climate change. Our work helps users worldwide to monitor the impact of these changes in order to protect lives, lifestyles and properties. By developing the next generation of satellites, we look to shape our future and infrastructure. An opportunity for an Image Navigation and Registration Engineer has arisen to join our Image, Navigation, Registration and Calibration Competence Area. This is a specialist role but one which offers great opportunities for professional development, processing the latest satellite imagery. In this role you will provide support to the development and operations of the EUMETSAT Polar System Second Generation (EPS-SG) system in the area of image, navigation and registration (INR) and geometrical algorithm processing. The role is likely to evolve to cover other EUMETSAT systems or operations in development.

DescriptionYour primary responsibilities will include developing the INR processing functionality of EPS-SG instrument missions based on deliverables from space and ground segment development programmes, ensuring that we meet the requirements on geometric quality and performance. You will also be involved in maintaining, refining and prototyping INR models for EPS-SG instruments and following up and supporting INR aspects of the industrial development of the EPS-SG ground segment including reviews, testing, monitoring and advising on the resolution of deviations. Acquiring and transferring knowledge for all EPS-SG INR aspects from industry to EUMETSAT is an important requirement of the role in addition to developing, maintaining and procuring INR-related test tools, software and databases and INR data processing and support, as necessary. You will additionally support system engineering activities and studies in the area of INR and geometrical processing and contribute to testing activities. | |
