Our institute’s main activities encompass research and teaching related to river and hydraulic engineering, among others.

The postdoctoral research will be part of the national interdisciplinary research project Riverscapes . The research will focus on numerical modelling of suspended sediment transport in compound channels with or without vegetation on floodplains. Consequently, the research work will include the development of a depth-averaged numerical model by extending the existing software BASEMENT , validation of the model with experimental data and application to situations as found in restored river reaches.

The successful candidate has a Master’s degree in environmental or civil engineering and a PhD in numerical modelling of hydro- and morphodynamics. The applicant has a relevant publication record and is experienced with numerical methods. Experience in suspended load transport and turbulence modelling would be an asset. We expect a team-oriented person, interested in research activities with emphasis on publication in peer-reviewed journals.

We offer an attractive research environment at a leading hydraulic research institute with excellent infrastructure and a friendly working atmosphere in a young and ambitious team. The project duration will be 2 years with an ideal starting date in early 2019. ,
