Bring your knowledge and experience of remote sensing physics to provide scientific and technical expertise on measurements taken from our satellite based hyperspectral infrared sounders.

We are seeking an enthusiastic scientist or engineer to join our team of remote sensing experts and to assume responsibility for Hyperspectral Infrared Level-1 processing.

Description

In this role you will contribute to the development of new and improved Level-1 data processing chains for the InfraRed Sounder (IRS) instrument on-board our MTG satellites, responding to the evolving needs of our user communities. You will be responsible for the prototyping and the operational implementation of the Level-1 processor. You will also support instrument recalibration and product reprocessing across all of EUMETSAT’s Hyperspectral IR sensors for climate monitoring. This is an opportunity to proactively work with our partners and operational user communities to define requirements for future satellite products and services.

Requirements

You will bring your in-depth scientific knowledge of atmospheric sounding in the infrared domain and experience in processing Level-1 data. You will have been exposed to developing scientific application software, ideally in partnership with users groups and researchers. With your strong analytical skills and an ability to synthesise complex information, you should be able to communicate scientific information clearly and concisely. You need to be a team player, with the capability to co-ordinate a number of project teams.
