Associate Professor or Assistant Professor (tenure track) in the field of computational sciences, high-performance computing and the lattice Boltzmann method

The Department of Computer Science is a very dynamic entity of the Faculty of Sciences. It is involved in numerous research projects funded by the SNSF, the EU, industry and other foundations. The Department of Computer Science offers complete bachelor, master and doctoral courses, focusing on the basic theoretical concepts of computer science, the mastery and development of advanced tools, and their multidisciplinary application in fields as varied as theoretical computer science, formal evidence, information theory, scientific calculation, numerical modelling and simulation, bioinformatics, etc.
The Department of Informatics is recognized worldwide for the quality of its research in several of these areas.

Description

This is a full charge position with courses at the bachelor, master and post-graduate levels. The person in this new position must be able to teach the basic subjects of computer science, as well as specialized courses in the field of computational sciences. She/he must develop cutting-edge research in the above-mentioned field and be able to collaborate with other UNIGE researchers in various fields (physics, biomedicine, environmental sciences, engineering, etc.). In addition, this person will have a perfect command of the lattice Boltzmann method and will be able to maintain and develop the Palabos software.

Requirements

  • Doctorate of Science or equivalent title.
  • University teaching experience is required, as well as a solid knowledge of high-performance computing and GPUs.
  • The candidate who applies for this offer will master French in order to be able to teach bachelor students.
  • A knowledge of German is welcome.
  • He/she will be dynamic, open to multidisciplinary collaborations and able to have a rigorous theoretical approach and the ability to solve practical problems.
  • Experience with the private sector and the development of industrial applications is desirable.
  • Candidate(s) must demonstrate their academic excellence at the national and international level, as well as the influence of their work.
