The University of Lausanne is a research and higher education institution composed of seven faculties, here approximately 15,000 students and nearly 5,000 professors, researchers and staff work and study. In order to complete our team, the Faculty of social and political sciences and the Institute of social sciences are looking for a

tenure track assistant professor for an associate professorship

or

associate professor

in social sciences and governance of health systems

Description

In your functions, you will have to :

Teaching (45%)
Six hours a week of teaching throughout the year

Research (45%)
The post-holder will pursue their own research in health social sciences, with an emphasis on general issues in public health and the governance of health systems, from a comparative perspective. It is expected that the person appointed will be affiliated to one of the research centres of the Institute of Social Sciences and that they will work closely with the University Centre of General Medicine and Public Health (Unisanté) on joint projects. Collaboration with the Interdisciplinary Centre on Overcoming Vulnerability: Life Course Perspectives (LIVES-UNIL) is also possible. S/he will be expected to produce high-quality academic publications. S/he will seek external funding, in particular from the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF).

Requirements

In order to complete our team, we are looking for someone with the following skills :

  • Doctorate in social sciences or equivalent;
  • Academic teaching experience;
  • Proven research record in organisation and governance of health systems, public health and global health;
  • Excellent links with international networks;
  • Openness to interdisciplinarity and collaboration with other institutions
  • Ability to provide expert analysis and carry out assignments for public or private-sector institutions
  • Openness to a diverse range of research methods: qualitative, quantitative and combined.
