Technical Expert in Single Crystal Growth

Your mission :
The Institute of Physics at EPFL is seeking to hire an expert in crystal growth and solid state synthesis to operate within the Institute’s Crystal Growth Facility.
The successful candidate will work with laboratories across the EPFL campus to provide samples and maximize their scientific output.

Main duties and responsibilities include :
  • Grow single crystals as well as polycrystalline samples for EPFL laboratories
  • Train researchers in single crystal growth techniques
  • Maintain the facility equipments including furnaces, vacuum systems, gas lines, etc.
  • Coordinate safety in the laboratories of the facility
  • Author concise reports and relevant paragraphs in scientific publications
  • Maintain and expand the state of the art suite of single crystal growth techniques

Your profile :
  • Strong experience in solid state chemistry and single crystal growth
  • Technical expertise in single crystal growth instrumentation
  • Ability to maintain, service, upgrade existing instrumentation and specify equipment to be procured
  • Capability and desire to train single crystal growth and solid state chemistry
  • Experience with single crystal and solid state characterisation techniques
