Professor in Biopsychology (m/f)

Description

The Professor will be a member of the research unit INSIDE. A Chair in Biopsychology is crucial in terms of the continuation of one of the most successful lines of research in Psychology. The Professor in Biopsychology will continue to contribute to the University’s research priority “Health and Systems Biomedicine”, both through disciplinary and inter-disciplinary research.

Research in Biopsychology complements existing excellence in experimental psychological research in areas such as pain research, psychoneuroendocrinology, stress research and psychophysiology. In addition, there are multiple collaborations between Biopsychology research and the Luxembourg Center for Systems Biomedicine. The experimental nature of this research would place the Professor in Bio-Psychology as a major player in the Experimental Psychology Laboratories Network (EPSYLON) at the University of Luxembourg.
The Professor will acquire third-party funding, lead projects, supervise PhDs, and further develop international networks.
The Professor will teach in 3 study programmes in Psychology at FLSHASE (BAP, MPI, MAP); teaching in Biopsychology is essential, as it is one of the core subjects of Psychology.

In addition to teaching in Psyhology, the Professor in Biopsychology would be expected to contribute to the curriculum in Medicine, supporting the development and consolidation of the Medical School, one of the most recent national developments in higher education.

Requirements

Qualifications, experience, aptitude
  • PhD in Psychology, and at least 6 years postdoc experience
  • An excellent research track record evidenced by high-impact peer-reviewed publications, external grant income and international collaborations in one or more of the following research areas would be expected:
- pain
- psychoneuroendocrinology
- stress
- interoception
- psychophysiology

  • Experience in teaching at University level

Languages
The University of Luxembourg is set in a multilingual context. The person hired on this position must be proficient in English and in one of the two official languages of Luxembourg: French or German. The University encourages its staff to learn the other official language and provides access to language courses to this end.
