Currently we are looking for a Research Technician - Cellular Neurobiology

Description Purpose of the Role:

As Research Technician - Cellular Neurobiology you will join the Multiple Sclerosis Cellular Neurobiology Group. The group’s main objective is to design disease-relevant in vitro models to support discovery projects for multiple sclerosis. In this role you will be consistently developing and executing primary cellular assays.

Main Tasks & Responsibilities :
  • Primary neural cultures (neuronal, or glial); immunocytochemistry & quantitative readouts
  • Mixed primary cultures or organotypic cultures (such as mixed cortical or cerebellar slice cultures)
  • Implement independently cell model assays (eg, myelination, neuroprotection) to support hit and lead discovery
  • Propose and execute experiments or concepts to support our therapeutic area needs
  • Read bibliography related to specific cellular assays and/or targets
  • Write regular activity reports
  • Be responsible for own data quality and protocol-writing
  • Help for the maintenance of equipment and for the replenishment of lab supplies
Requirements Education & Languages :
  • CFC, BTS, DUT or equivalent with 3 to 5 years experience
  • Can be a holder of a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Life Science, preferably in the area of neurobiology, neurodegenerative diseases or related areas
  • Excellent speaking, reading, and writing of English is mandatory
  • French language knowledge is an asset
Professional Skills & Experience :
  • 3-5 years experience in cellular neurobiology (experience in pharmaceutical industry is an asset)
  • Hands on experience in the laboratory and comprehensive understanding of in vitro cell-based models using neurons or mixed cultures and related assays
  • Good knowledge of various readouts such as microscopy, immunocytochemistry, image analysis, biochemical readouts (Western blotting, ELISA, PCR)
  • A good foundation in multiple sclerosis or other neurodegenerative diseases area

  • Demonstrated flexibility and team player ability
